Working as a QA Technician on titles owned by 2K games, I helped ship several popular AAA games and DLCs including: NBA2K21, Borderlands 3, Mafia: Definitive Edition and Civilization VI.
My role primarily involved manual functionality testing on a huge assortment of modern platforms. NBA2K21 had a significant focus on multiplayer gameplay and online connectivity, ad-hoc and regression testing were important for such a user heavy environment.
Borderlands 3 and the associated DLCs were significant projects I've worked on during my time. A variety of functionality testing types were employed throughout my involvement; smoke, sanity, regression and usability testing - reporting bugs and issues in Jira.
Additional titles I had experience with include Mafia: Definitive Edition and Civilization VI which were focused on playtesting and reporting feedback with additional QA testing on an ad-hoc basis.
Working with such a large team and several outsourced studios required the use of Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel to tabulate data of testers to ensure accuracy and efficiency; preventing duplicates by adding an extra layer of verification before submission. With the use of Google scripts, automating the plans and groups of testers based on game, console and area helped optimise the process of testing without overlapping in any significant manner.
